As we approach the new year, are we filled with excitement or a bit of lingering anxiety?
I find myself reflecting on the journey of 2024 – the progress made and the exciting challenges ahead. It’s clear that I have a lot of work to do, but creating a plan and prioritizing my goals has forced me to pause and assess what I've learned this year. And what a year it’s been for growth!
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that tragedy doesn’t halt life. In fact, it can be an opportunity to dig deep and discover new strengths. Over the past year, I've faced unexpected challenges – personal losses, strained relationships, and financial hurdles. In the thick of it, life felt it was coming in like a wrecking ball. (Yes, that is a Miley Cyrus reference ha). When one issue rectified, another to navigate. But these trials reinforced one powerful truth: belief is essential. Whether it’s faith, a mentor, or a philosophy that guides you, having something to believe in provides the resilience needed to overcome life’s battles. Let's not forget that believing in yourself is the ultimate power.
2024 also reinforced the power of consistency. While I’ve always been someone who values consistency, applying that mindset across every area of my life has delivered tremendous results and personal growth. From small wins to bigger accomplishments, the rewards have been remarkable.
Perhaps the most important takeaway for me this year is that excellence doesn’t mean perfection. My pursuit of this unrealistic result has held me back, causing unnecessary delays and hindering my progress. I’ve realized that focusing on perfection can sometimes be more of a barrier than a benefit. Going into the new year, I’m committed to shifting my mindset. I will focus on giving my best and striving for excellence, knowing that it’s about continuous improvement rather than unattainable perfection. In 2025, I’m determined to approach every challenge with renewed passion and determination, embracing the process of growth and learning along the way, and leaving behind the pressure of perfectionism. (I have made this public so you can hold me to it)
If you haven’t yet taken a moment to reflect on 2024, I encourage you to do so now. Be honest with yourself, and make a pact to show up and deliver in 2025!
